The VR and web-based simulated training was showcased at the International SAP Conference for Energy and Utilities in Basel, Switzerland from the 18th-20th of April.
The training leveraged real-time API integration with SAP's S4/HANA and SAP Asset Performance Management tool, allowing for a seamless and innovative way to train technicians in an oil refinery environment.
The goal of this training was to improve and optimize business processes and operations using SAP software and metaverse technology. Attendees were impressed by the life-like 3D design of the refinery and the interactivity of the VR simulation, which resulted in a highly effective training experience.
The success of this training marks a new era of learning in the Energy and Utilities industry and highlights the potential for Industrial Metaverse technology to transform the way businesses train their employees.

Engineers and technicians work with live, real-time data via API which creates a very realistic
replica of a live refinery training scenario without any of the potential risk.

This networking lounge was designed to facilitate seamless collaboration via guided conversational topics around sustainable travel. Two, group voice chat-pods were created on either end of the lounge to facilitate real-time conversations and group interactions. Text chat rooms were also included for those who preferred more private conversations. Predefined gestures and actions were also included as features on the users’ avatar which could be used to communicate and network with other visitors.

The first step was the conceptualisation of a fully optimised 3D designed oil refinery environment.
This involved developing a working process within an oil refinery, creating a script and user flow, and then optimising that environment which the engineer avatars interacted with.
